Food is yummy, the drinks are delicious and perfect for a date night! The servers are friendly and have great knowledge of the menu if you need a walk through !
Visited Delano for the weekend, and stayed at the Holiday Inn right near El Puesto. At first you wouldnt realize its a restaurant but honestly we were so glad we came in despite the negative reviews. The place inside is really nice and looks brand new. You can tell the energy of the place is really great where it has that elegant cozy feeling. They also have a live singer that comes and performs which adds a great touch to the place. The menu has so many great options for food and drinks its hard to choose! The staff are really accommodating especially our serve who provided details on what each menu item consisted of. The micheladas were awesome and they add a special touch for birthday celebrations! I would definitely recommend this place!
Ordered for lunch over the phone and the woman taking my order was very patient and thorough in her explanations... She gave us a time frame and a total, and everything was as expected. Our food was fantastic! $2 tacos was a nice surprise (Tuesday special). We'd order again! Can't wait to try other items on the menu.
First off, the aesthetic here is stunning! You don't feel like you're in Delano when you go inside. You can also feel the true vibe of Mexico within the restaurant. I loved it. The food, the atmosphere, and the service were all on point. My family came here to celebrate a Mother's Day dinner with our mom. My mom doesn't like anything spicy and they had plenty of non-spicy options for her. She loved the food. I love that they have a simple kids menu with not too many choices. They also serve a good portion of it, which is great! It's kid-friendly and family friendly. I will definitely come back and recommend this place to my friends.
El Puesto is a locally owned restaurant, there are several El Puesto's in Bakersfield. This particular location is in Delano and it's the newest Mexican restaurant in town. Monday through Saturday a buffet option is available from 11:00 to 2:00. Saturday is the only day that you are unable to order from the menu until after 2:00. The bar is open from 11:00 until closing. The restaurant is beautiful and decorated nicely. Great ambience and nice selection of music playing. Not overly loud, so you're able to carry a conversation with your party. I visited on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at approximately 11:30 am. I met a friend for a buffet style lunch. The restaurant was clean including the buffet line. The restroom was impeccable and fully stocked. I started with a bowl of menudo rojo. I grew up eating menudo rojo and loving the menudo my mom made. The spices added are always according to how spicy you want your broth. The menudo was piping hot and was made with honeycomb tripe, pata and white hominy. The broth was not spicy nor was it overly salted. Oregano, cilantro, onions and lemon were available. Also available were toasted chile de arbol, perfect to kick up the spice notch a bit. I would definitely eat the menudo again. The birra was my favorite dish. The meat was extremely tender and had a good flavor. I topped my birria with chopped onions, cilantro, salsa and a squeeze of lemon. And plated it with rice and beans. And the delicious homemade corn tortillas, which were made on the spot. The enchiladas were a bit spicy and very tasty. They were filled with Queso and topped with cheese, onions and cilantro. Very delicious and highly recommend. The carnitas were delicious but a bit on the greasy side. Meat was very tender and seasoned perfectly. The pork ribblets with nopal were delicious. Ribs were tender and nopal cooked perfectly. I didn't try the other dishes and have a reason to go back. I ordered the cafe de olla. OMG! So delicious. It was served steaming hot with half and half on the side and 3 galletas Maria to round off the sweetness from the coffee. The coffee has piloncillo and cinnamon..simple but delicious. Highly recommended the cafe de olla. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the food, the quality of ingredients and very attentive waitstaff. Busboy continuously cleared plates from the tables. I highly recommend El Puesto buffet and I look forward to trying a few of their signature cocktails.
Fellow Delanoan here and when I say I was excited to try this restaurant out, I was TRULY EXCITED!! Came here on a Friday evening (6pm) to have a late bday dinner for my cousin. Seated right away thankfully (as the line started to trickle in after us). I was truly amazed about how beautiful and upscale this place was. The lighting was the perfect dim, the decor had an Aztec, Boho, and refreshing vibe to it. Joel, our waiter (he's also a bartender there) was soooo kind, respectful, patient, and super down to earth. Was able to get all that we needed and recommended some delicious drinks for 2 of us (me included). I ordered the Fajitas Trio (Steak, Chicken AND Shrimp with Rice, Beans and Homemade tortillas - I chose corn. Highly rec!). My drink of choice was the El Don Juan. Wait time was not too bad considering how busier it got as the night went on. Food and drink were AMAZING. You can't go wrong with fajitas at all ... probably the best I've ever had. So flavorful, the amount of protein in it was the right amount. As far as the rice and beans, rice was great however the beans I prefer a little bit more thicker. They were more runny but didn't ruin my meal. The homemade corn tortillas were splendid! It's not a quiet spot to sit and chat without yelling at each other especially when the mariachi is playing but I'll tell you it was fun and had an enjoyable experience. The only downside I feel is the bathroom situation. 1 male and 1 female individualized bathrooms. The line can get really long. I hope that once this place starts to get busier and busier, hopefully they can expand with more bathroom space. Other than that, I'm so happy for the owners of El Puesto and I sure will be bringing my little family over again! Thank you again for serving DELANO!
Had lunch at El Puesto on New Year's Eve. I'm really impressed with the renovation of this restaurant. It's beautiful and classy. The mariachis playing added a nice touch. I ordered the chile rellenos (2nd time trying them here), husband had the costillas in a red sauce and a side of menudo. Both entrees were served with rice, beans and house made tortillas. The chile rellenos were the best I've ever had. I wasn't sure if it was going to be a hit and miss when I ordered them again, but they were spot on and just as delicious as my previous visit. The costillas de puerco were flavorful and seasoned well, as was the menudo. The service was very good and efficient. What stands out the most to me is that the owner not only invested in a beautiful renovation, but also in hiring an experienced chef! The food was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance and vibe too. Great dining experience. Great job El Puesto!
This Mexican restaurant is an amazing addition to the city of Delano. The bar area and decor are beautiful and the lights are dimmed after dark, so it has a romantic flair. We were seated promptly and Jasmine was our waitress. Surprisingly, service was fast, we weren't sure what to expect because it has only been open for a week or so. The food was great and prices were comparable to other Mexican spots. We had the ceviche, green enchiladas and the fajita trio. We also started with the "everything," appetizer platter. Fresh & tasty food, fast service, great vibe, amazing drinks, and reasonable prices, this place will be around for years to come!
